Brentwood

It’s been called one of the three B’s along with Beverly Hills and Bel Air. Brentwood is a jewel of the Westside known for its picturesque neighborhoods and suburban living with a glamorous edge. It sits at the base of the Santa Monica Mountains bounded by the 405 Freeway and Wilshire Boulevard. San Vicente Boulevard with its wide median planted with coral trees is one of the area’s main thoroughfares. The coral trees are decorated during the holiday season, providing a particularly charming display.
 
Real Estate: Brentwood is an affluent neighborhood with many larger single-family homes, some on large lots. Many business professionals, celebrities, and other Los Angeles notables make their home here. The area also features some condos and apartment living.
 
Community Life: Brentwood offers many recreation opportunities including the Brentwood Country Club. The Barrington Recreation Center has an auditorium, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, tennis courts, a soccer field, and volleyball courts. The Barrington Dog Park at the recreation center offers plenty of space to take your dog out for some exercise.
The Brentwood Village area at Sunset and Barrington is known for its pedestrian-friendly environment, great local shops, and strong sense of community. The Brentwood Village Farmers’ Market on Sunday attracts a large crowd of locals doing their weekly shopping in the open air.

Elementary schools in the area include Kenter Canyon Elementary School, a charter school, and Brentwood Science Magnet Elementary School, an alternative school. Paul Revere Charter Middle School is Brentwood’s middle school. There are a wide variety of local private schools including The Archer School for Girls, which is housed in the former Eastern Star Home for Women, a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument listed in the California Register of Historic Places.
 
Transportation: Brentwood offers easy access to the 405 Freeway and is situated for a short drive to the beach and Pacific Coast Highway. There are several highly walkable areas and bike lanes are being added. Public transportation is offered through 9 bus lines that run through the area.
 
Local Attractions: Brentwood is home to the Getty Museum, one of the most popular and most visited museums in Los Angeles. The Brentwood Country Mart, established back in 1948, is a familiar landmark with its vibrant red board structure and houses many popular restaurants and shops.
